Synopsis:
In 1755, impoverished captain Ludvig Kahlen sets out to conquer the harsh and inhospitable Danish wastelands with a seemingly impossible goal: create a colony in the name of the King. In exchange, he will receive a noble title that he desperately desires.
However, the area's sole ruler, the ruthless Frederik De Schinkel, arrogantly believes that the land belongs to him. When De Schinkel realizes that his servant Ann Barbara and her servile husband have escaped to take refuge with Kahlen, the privileged and spiteful ruler swears revenge and promises to do everything in his power to drive away the captain.
But Kahlen is not intimidated and undertakes a battle so unequal that it will put not only her life at risk, but also the family of marginalized people that has formed around her.
