Synopsis:
Thomson hopes that by leading an ambitious new play on Broadway he will, among other things, breathe new life into his moribund career. In many ways it is a profoundly foolish initiative, but the former movie superhero has high hopes that this creative stunt will legitimize him as an artist and prove to everyone – including himself – that he is more than just an old Hollywood glory. As the play's opening night approaches, Riggan's lead actor is injured in a freak accident during rehearsals and has to be quickly replaced. At the suggestion of the lead actress, Lesley, and at the insistence of his best friend and producer, Jake, Riggan reluctantly hires Mike Shiner, a dangerous element who guarantees ticket sales and a glowing review of the play.
