Synopsis:
In 1949, an American western writer, Holly Martins, arrives in post-war Vienna to visit his old friend Harry Lime. Upon arrival, he learns that his friend has died in a road accident, and when he meets Calloway, head of the British military police in Vienna, he informs him that Lime was actually a black marketeer wanted by the police. He decides to prove Harry's innocence, but is Harry really dead?
