Sinopsis:
In 2010, directing duo the Hughes Brothers (Menace II Society) delivered The Book of Eli, a stark, visually striking post-apocalyptic western starring Denzel Washington (Training Day) as a lone drifter on a mission through the ruins of America. Blending action, science fiction and religious allegory, the film depicts a world where civilisation has collapsed and knowledge has become a precious commodity.
Eli (Washington) has spent thirty years travelling west, protecting a mysterious book that may hold the key to humanity's survival. When he arrives in a desolate settlement ruled by the ruthless Carnegie (Gary Oldman, True Romance), he finds himself drawn into a deadly struggle for possession of the book. Outnumbered and outgunned, Eli must rely on his faith, resourcefulness and formidable combat skills to continue his journey.
Atmospheric, brutal and packed with spectacular action, The Book of Eli is a stylish dystopian adventure with a thought-provoking heart. Featuring a commanding performance from Washington and a memorably sinister turn from Oldman, it serves up a striking vision of a world in which the written word could determine the fate of civilisation.
