Sinopsis:
Under the blazing French Riviera sun, golden bodies bask beside a crystal-blue pool while desire, jealousy, and resentment simmer beneath the surface.
Jean-Paul (Delon) and Marianne (Schneider) are spending an idyllic summer together at a secluded Saint-Tropez villa, lazily passing their days beside its shimmering pool. Their private paradise is shattered by Harry, (Maurice Ronet), a swaggering record producer and Marianne’s former lover, accompanied by his beautiful eighteen-year-old daughter, Pénélope (Birkin).
The languor of the Mediterranean summer gradually gives way to rivalry and suspicion. As old passions resurface between Harry and Marianne, Jean-Paul seeks retribution by turning his attentions towards the quietly bored Pénélope. What begins as a chic game of glances and unspoken desires steadily spirals towards a dark and irreversible climax - as one fateful night turns the water deadly.
Stylish, sensual, and increasingly sinister, LA PISCINE reunites two of European cinema’s most magnetic stars. In an on-disc interview, Delon reveals he insisted producers cast Schneider, without whom the film couldn’t be made - a tantalising detail given their celebrated real-life romance; though it had ended, their palpable chemistry forms the film's very essence.
Driven by Oscar® winner Michel Legrand’s hypnotic, jazz-infused score and stunning cinematography, this iconic 1960s classic finally receives its definitive presentation: exclusively regraded and newly encoded from a pristine 4K restoration.
This presentation of LA PISCINE includes three versions: the original French edit and its alternate ending - with English subtitles - plus the separately filmed English version with optional SDH.
